2. Programming Trends

Streaming services have taken over today's world in place of your regularly scheduled program. Cable services like Direct TV and Dish are becoming more and more outdated. Streaming services like Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, Netflix, and Peacock have made a huge push forward for becoming the main source for any kind of show you might want to watch.

What has become the biggest streaming service for nerds is not exactly what most people would think. It would be Disney+ that has become one of the largest streaming services for nerds such as myself. No, it is not for the princesses and old Disney XD shows (even though those XD shows were awesome). It is because of the multiple new Star Wars and Marvel shows that have been released for Disney+ exclusively. The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, WandaVision, Hawkeye, What If...?, and Loki have become some of my and the world of nerds favorite shows to keep up with. They have become an incredible source of conversation and is the main reason I convinced my parents to buy me Disney+.

Disney+ was not the original streaming service by far, but they did revolutionize the future of streaming services. In my opinion, I haven't always been a fan of the "let's release the entire show so they can binge watch all 10 episodes in 2 days" mentality, but I have vastly enjoyed the waiting a week and building up suspense for what is going to happen in the next episode of these Disney+ originals like "The Mandalorian" and "Hawkeye" from the image above.

Where else could you binge watch all of your old Disney XD favorites like Zack & Cody, Hannah Montana, and for me the Spider-Man Animated Series from 1997. This was my second reason for begging my parents to get me and my sister (mainly me) Disney+ after wanting to watch The Mandalorian. After finishing The Mandalorian, I was wondering what would I even use Disney+ for while I am waiting for the new Marvel shows that would come out in about a year. I then remembered that Disney+ does not only have these new shows, but they also contain all of my generation's favorites from the 2000's and 2010's.

Coming back to the Marvel portion of Disney, the movies. Yes probably one of the biggest phenoms of the 21st century is the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and you can you just watch 14 years worth of movies in roughly over 2 days. If you somehow have the time of day then you can spend 50 hours of your life to watch the greatest superhero universe ever. Even better is if you can't go out to the movie theater, or just don't want to get out, Disney+ will put that movie like their most recent The Eternals

The amount of stuff you can watch on Disney+ is immeasurable whether that is a National Geographic documentary or a superhero movie. The hype that Disney+ received back in November of 2019 has definitely not been an overstatement.
